What My Hair Looked Like After Getting Caught in the Rain
There’s something about waking up on a Sunday morning after a rainy Saturday that feels different.
After yesterday’s unexpected storms in New York City, I walked into my bathroom, looked in the mirror, and immediately noticed my hair. The smooth style I had started the weekend with had transformed overnight after being caught in the rain. Instead of looking perfectly polished, it had expanded into soft volume with its own personality.
For a few minutes, I thought about pulling out my flat iron and starting over.
Then I stopped.
Why?
Because this is exactly what my hair looked like after a rainy New York weekend, and honestly…I didn’t mind it.
Some days I enjoy a sleek, straight look, and other days I love seeing the natural fullness that humidity always brings back. Instead of fighting it, I decided to embrace it.
This wasn’t the day for perfection.
It was a Sunday.
The kind of Sunday where you’re moving a little slower, checking off a few errands, grabbing a coffee, picking up a couple of things around the city, and enjoying the morning before getting dressed for evening plans.
Once I decided to leave my hair exactly as it was, getting dressed became easy.

I reached for one of my favorite casual combinations—a fitted white ribbed tank paired with soft gray leggings. It’s one of those effortless outfits that always works because it’s comfortable without feeling sloppy. The clean white top keeps everything feeling fresh, while the gray leggings create a simple, neutral look that’s perfect for running around New York without overthinking what to wear.
Some days fashion isn’t about making a statement.
It’s about feeling comfortable enough to enjoy the day.
I slipped on cozy socks while getting ready, grabbed my pink phone, and headed out the door knowing I could always change later if I wanted a completely different look for the evening.
That’s one of my favorite things about Sundays.
They don’t require perfection.
They leave room to breathe.
Looking back at these photos now, I actually like that they captured a real moment instead of a perfectly styled one. My hair tells the story of yesterday’s rain, my outfit reflects the relaxed pace of the morning, and together they remind me that personal style isn’t always about having every strand perfectly in place.
Sometimes style is simply about working with what the day gives you.
Yesterday gave me rain.
Today gave me volume.
And honestly…I decided to wear both.
What’s your favorite go-to look after a storm?
How does your natural hair hold up?
Do you embrace it or cover it up?
Style isn’t always about perfection. Sometimes it’s about embracing the moment.
XOXO,
Nora
